Stop Stage Fright : Overcoming Stage Fright

Sweaty palms, racing heart…. You know the feeling. Whether it is five people or fifty, public speaking can be a gut wrenching experience for most of us. No need to worry, all of us experienced stage fright at some point of our lives. The first thing that comes to mind before going on stage is that what people are going to say.

We are human and we are naturally made in a way that we value our reputation above most things, but when you think about it, really what’s the worst thingthat could happen? You could freak out on stage, humiliate yourself and laughed at but the again what are these chances of that happening when you have practiced well and know your facts.

OVERCOMING STAGE FRIGHT :

1- Breathe slowly in deep breaths. This action calms your nerves and gets you off the nervous edge

2- Direct your attention solely on your performance so that nervous thoughts are held off from entering your brain.

3- Eat a banana seriously, it slows the adrenaline and gives you a positive attitude.

4- Do smile when you smile your whole system relaxes and this will also give a good vibe towards the audience.

5- Don’t make eye contact if that makes you feel uncomfortable. Just randomly scan the audience and if you have to look at someone don’t look directly at them, focus on a point above their eyes or their forehead for example.

6- Make the audience laugh. Add something funny that will lighten the mood and give you more confidence as well.

Look at superstars such as zany malik, cristano ronaldo, selena Gomez etc; they weren’t born with their confidence. Were they? We all get nervous in certain circumstances; it’s how you face your fears that actually matters
